We have painted, had the furniture recovered and hit a blank to bring it all together! The space is upstairs where we want want to listen to music, watch tv, have our books and a place for our teenage daughter to play/do homework on the family pc, or to hang out with friends on rainy days.

Break the space into separate areas. One for TV watching, one for computer, game table, chairs, library. I would probably use the far end for the TV area as the light would not come in from the doors, and the computer, library, game table area nearest the entrance. First, choose a very large colorful rug to anchor each area. You have then made a definition of your space. That makes it easier to place furniture and decide what you need in each space. Just do one area at a time. Then paint your walls a color..I know you said you painted..but I cannot see where, to me white is not a wall color except in very specific situations.
