Hi, we are knocking a wall down from our kitchen through to our garage and converting the garage into kitchen/dining. However the garage is a step down from the rest of the house we have to keep it like that to keep the ceiling legal height. Do you think you can have a galley kitchen on two different heights? Any guidance or info wold be great.

It would be safest to place the kitchen in such a way the step down had a visual edge somewhere, like the end of a row of cabinets. Or an entire row on top of the edge. It will be(-come) a reminder on where the step is.

Without knowing more details about your project, that could feel awkward. It might be more economical to use the garage as the new Great Room / Dining Room while combining the kitchen and dining room in the current location.
