BEAUTIFUL HOME!!

I WOULD REMOVE THE NONFUNCTIONAL SHUTTERS AND BEEF UP THE WINDOW TRIM SYMMETRICALLY.

THEN PAINT THE FRONT A BRIGHT COLOUR - PERHAPS RED.

[whoops]

If you could add some photos closer up it would help to see the colors... but based on what I can see, I think the main color of the house should be a whole lot lighter,

What color is your garage door?

I have attached a pic of a walkway to the front door that I recently came across. It made the front door more important than the driveway, don't you think?

I think what bothers me most is that the color is a steely gray, rather than a warm gray... look at the photo below to see what I mean

The color of the house is dark gray, the shutters and door are a maroon and the garage door is white.

I like the classic black door and shutters rather than the maroon. Maroon can be a great color to work with in the right situation... but usually it comes off as feeling depressed. What is the white band across the bottom of your front door? That is what makes it look like it is floating. See in the photo above how the door itself is all black ?

Another thing that I note about your door is that it is lacking the trim over the door like the windows, which makes it seem less important. I would beef up the door trim. And add a nice hanging light fixture if the space allows... or a nice wall mounted one to the side of the door.

Install light fixtures at the front door and garage door. Replace the column with a fancier column. Install shingled siding on the upper right gable. Garage door? If it is plain replace it with a door with carriage style windows and black hardware.

Looks great to me. Nicely proportioned in size, shape, trim. My advice is to walk around your neighborhood and note all the houses that don't have the balance yours does. You'll admire your own house a lot more and it won't cost you a thing.
