Back splash question
February 16, 2013 in Design Dilemma
when installing a back you end at the counter edge or upper cabinet edge?

If they are not the same and you have an overhang on the countertop, I would say the backsplash should end at the end of the upper cabinet.

I disagree, but different people do it differently. I prefer to have the backsplash follow to the edge of the counter. Where the cabinets end, the backsplash will need bull-nose finished edge pieces on top and on the side where it goes down to the counter (if the tiles are ceramic). If they are other materials (glass, etc,) there are edging materials you can use to give them a more finished look.

As you can see from feeny's pictures, it all depends on the situation.
