Anne DeCocco I know this question was answered recently, so you might do a search on Houzz AND if you Google something like "chalkboard refrigerator" you'll find a myriad of articles. BUT, I just want to chime in that I think this is a project for a fridge front that's in tough shape, as there's no going back once you apply this finish. And I wonder how chalkboard paint will react to greasy fingerprints? Anyone out there have experience with that?
Like any paint job, rough up the surface, prime it but good (choose a primer specifically for metal surfaces), be sure to get the surface smooth, and then paint away with chalkboard paint. Several coats. Please show us pictures if you do this! It's a popular idea!

Custom Home Planning Center Makes more sense to buy the add wood panel hardware and add a chalk board panel instead. If it doesn't work out you can add another surface that does.

Anne DeCocco Good idea. Still wondering about chalkboard and greasy fingers though. Not sure they're a great combination.

carolinemg I am sure it can be cleaned with Windex or de-greaser!
