Our family rm was originally a garage and owner turned it into fam rm with panel my question is we have already realized how cheap he put things together so what could possibly be behind panelling if we take it down

The paneling might be attached just to the studs unless they dry walled first and then added the paneling.
If you remove the light switch cover or an outlet cover or a piece of door trim it might be visible what is underneath.
Or you might have to remove a whole section of panel to find out.

You won't know until you take down the paneling. Best guess would be poor framing and bad electrical, no insulation...Anything I can imagine could be back there. Squirrels, dead and alive (been there, done that). Wear protective gear, masks, glasses and gloves...Best of luck!

Great descriptions from Ironwood Builders. Our guesses are as good as yours.
