Quartz is a natural product, looking for the hardness of Quartz, I am thinking Quartzite as a composite of Quartz and sand is fired in fabrication just as "Full Body Porcelain" process.

You may be right that the term is used for this type of product, but in geologic terms quartzite is a mix of quartz and other minerals where the major portion of the stone is quartz.

Quartzite is a naturally occurring metamorphic rock. It is harder than granite. It makes a great countertop. "Quartz" countertops as they are often referred to - are a manmade product - consisting of about 93% natrual quartz stone that is ground up, color added and a resin binder added to hold it all together and make it nonporous. Quartz countertops are manufactured under a variety of names such as Cambria, Caesarstone, Hanstone, Silestone, Zodiac and more. They also make great countertops. These two products are completely different!
