I am looking to update my kitchen in the next year but am having trouble trying to figure out how to best maximize the space and make the kitchen more inviting. I have an apartment that doesn't have much room and would ideally like the kitchen to be the "hang-out" area when I have people over. Also, counter space is limited so I would like to add some counters (the island against the wall currently serves as space for the microwave and coffee maker). The bigger door in the photos is to the bathroom. The smaller door in the corner next to the radiator is a small pantry. I am considering extending the counter around the corner to the bathroom door but am unsure if that would look odd.

Items I intend to add/update:

- dishwasher
- stainless steel appliances
- update cabinets(only doors if possible)
- granite countertop

Any advice is greatly appreciated!
