In search of a kitchen table ~ harder than you think!

I have searched high and low for a rectangular kitchen table around 7ft long w/ leaves. I've about given up. I almost pulled the trigger on one in Pottery Barn today but walked away in the end. Does anyone have any ideas? Forget RH, PB, Zin Home, Crate & Barrel, West Elm, Lilian August, high-end names (decorator). So many of the tables out there now look like picnic tables, butcher blocks etc.....Looking for something transitional although you can always create that w/ the chairs/lighting. Love to mix & match. Thanks, nkd

Have you tried ebay or your local antique centers? I love painted furniture and older furniture may work.

Consider this table from Ethan Allen. I cannot download the photos but here is a description from their website. It's a good looking transitional piece.

Lazy Sunday afternoon brunches are what come to mind with the easy, clean-lined expandable Christopher table. The textural grain improves with age, making it the perfect table to gather the family around. Tapered legs and molding detail finish off the look.

• opens to 104.5"l × 42"w with two 18” leaves, seats up to 8
