What color should I paint the inside of the cut out wall areas of my home?

I just painted the walls a light gray and don't know if I should paint the cut out areas of my walls the same color or contrast. If I contrast, should I contrast lighter or darker, in the same color family or different....don't want it to look 70's.

My vote would be same color only darker.

I personally don't think I would need to make any feature of the inset...so for me I would paint it the same colour.

You mean white shutters instead of the vertical blinds...GREAT that will look Fantastic! - and will contrast against the darker wall colour, good job!

Thank you! I have opted to keep the same color in the cut out area. If i do place a feature item in the areas....they will be the focal point instead of the paint! Thanks again!
