Need help with bathroom color coordination
February 21, 2013 in Design Dilemma
Help please! We are preparing our house to put on the market this spring and needless to say trying to make everything look as appealing as possible. One room of concern is a small full bathroom on the main level. A couple of years ago we installed wallpaper and replaced the vanity top with a black granite one. The black top would not have been our first choice, but we were hastily preparing the room in time for the Christmas holidays, and it was all that the local Lowe’s had in stock at the time. Although it doesn’t show up in the photo, the vanity top does have some metallic-looking flecks subtly mixed in with the black. The challenge we’re having is tying together the various colors in the small room - blue ceramic floor tile, white doors & trim, bone-colored tub & toilet, patterned wallpaper (blue/off-white/buff colored) and the oak vanity with black top. If we were going to remain in the house we’d probably redo the entire room, but for our purposes we’re trying to work with what we have and minimize expense. Ideally, we’re hoping to pull colors together with coordinating accessories (different shower curtain, rugs, small items on vanity top, etc.) but are really not sure what types of items and colors would work best. I've attached a pic of the room and close-up of the wallpaper. We’d really appreciate any suggestions - thanks!
