I have a double staircase, and don't know how to accessorize it. I want to keep it simple, but I am having trouble finding pieces that won't make it look over the top.

Double staircases are by nature dramatic. You can either play it up or make it low key. Just bear in eye has to have a focal point (usually in the centre) which is why chandeliers and a table in the centre draw the eye to mid-point and the stairs "frame" the tableau.

If you look at the images below - a table with a centre piece plant or flower, some chairs to the side and a stunning chandelier or modern pendant light may give you ideas
