I'd like a good color flow from dining room to living room

I have an adjoining dining room and living room. I don't want them to be both the same colors, I would like the colors to flow evenly from one room to the other but be different. My living room furniture is light beiges, dark beiges, light greens, pale pinks. I'd like to paint a darker color of one of those (maybe a dark beige), and try to incorporate the color scheme into the dining room without it being the same wall color. But I don't know what color would be a good wall color from dark beige. And I do like the darker color walls.
I would really appreciate any ideas.
Unfortunately, at the moment, I do not have any pics. Hope to get some soon.
