Help with flooring
Large open conept floor plan, would like to break up the room with carpet and wood flooring, but do not want it to look like the room was just split in half.

olldbobbi One of the best ways to mix carpet and wood flooring and to delineate specific 'rooms' or spaces is with area rugs. For instance, in an open concept plan with all wood flooring, an area rug under the dining room table would give it it's own definition. The same would go for defining a living room. One problem I could see with a room that's half carpet, half wood is the transition between the spaces may not be level, and moving from the carpet to the wood could be a tripping hazard.

ASVInteriors In a similar situation, I find sofa tables are an excellent solution (plus a few carpets). I use the sofa as the divider and add a heavy low bookshelf onto which to place lamps and lots of books underneath (to anchor those people who throw themselves on sofas). I then use carpeting - based on what the client has or buying new - to great subtle zones...
