Help design/decorate bathroom in rental house

Hi, I am renting an apartment and plan on staying for several years until my husband and I buy a house. There isn't much I can do to the bathroom but would love to update it a bit. I am looking for options that are temporary or can be taken down in the future. I think we will stick with the black and white. ANY input will be greatly appreciated!!!

First off, you need to take down the picture of the lovely couple above toilet and just add some colorful art work to this space.

One you find the art work, then you can coordinate some towels to match into the space.

What is your favorite color?

Looked at your post again and it seems you want to stick to just black and white colors in the room?

The photo is just there until we decide what to do with the space. I was thinking of putting some sort of shelving in place of the photo.

Do you want contemporary or traditional style?

I'd like to add color but because of the tile, not sure if I should throw in a bright wall color or stick to white, black, with chrome accents.

I tend to like more of a contemporary style but because of the tile, am open to anything.

I would add yellow. On walls, bath mat, towels. And some art with pops of yellow in them.

I would add red. On walls, bath mat, towels. A bright stylish red flower the biggest you can find.

Take a look at black and white bathrooms here on Houzz for inspiration. Also, look at Hollywood glam or hollywood regency pictures (those lights made me think of that). I see that you have a bit of a storage problem and buying one of those units that goes behind the toilet might be a solution. Or a few shelves. You could buy pretty containers in the colors you decide on and put them on there and also one shelf with pretty towels. Are there no towel bars at all in this bathroom?

Forgot to ask, is this a bathroom that guests use as well?

yes, this bathroom is the only bathroom we have. There are no towel bars and the cabinets are pressed wood, with no knobs or handles. I was thinking of adding trim to make them look more like real wood cabinets.

Ask your landlord to pay for $30 worth of towel bars that you install. Same for knobs at $2 each. Also, you can ask the landlord for permission to paint; get it in writing that you either will or will not have to return the unit to its original color when you move out.

Every dollar you spend that stays here is a dollar you are not saving for your own house. What is your real goal?
