Need help with stucco on interior wall

I am trying to create an old world look in 1/2 bath. I'm using slate brick deign scattered at corners on wall with adhesive, then using stucco texture on all wall sides, and as grout to build up and meet bricks. The idea is to make the design look close to an aged old world wall as possible. The stucco is not adhering to wall, and is cracking. Any help would be great. Thanks..

Products from Faux Effects or Faux Like a Pro will give you the look you want with out cracking. Typically plastered crack when they are put on too thick and are drying too fast. If you cannot get a different product, use less and build layer upon layer, letting each layer dry thoroughly to avoid cracking.

Thank you so much for the advice. I am certainly going to try the new product, or layer and dry. Great idea! Will get back to give the results. :)
