Anyone using a brick floor?

Hello everyone--we've got a wonderful 250 year old farmhouse with a kitchen that is in desperate need of updating. The floor, which is a bad 80's tile, needs to be replaced and I'm thinking that, to work with the style and age of the house, it might be cool to do brick. Has anyone out there used brick or some type of pavers in a kitchen area? I'm also considering portstone.com which has a great weathered brick look that's actually a tile. One thing I'm concerned about is that the kitchen is attached to a foyer area so it would be A LOT of brick. Too much do you think?
