What style is this 1919 house?
We just purchased this house and I am hitting a design block with the exterior and if I should try to restore any original charm. Do you think the porch was added? I'm having a hard time finding out the style of this house. It was built in 1919 and the exterior is stucco. Thank you.

jansgirl I don't know the style but as far as restoring charm, well, that is always a good idea to me!

lisamarie1225 I also should ask, when we paint, do you think it should be one solid color with white trim or should it be two toned because of the trim around the upper half? Color ideas? Dark grey?

Ironwood Builders You have a transitional arts and crafts home. The porch is probably original...just the enclosure is newer. For a more authentic look, remove the door and windows and open up the front porch. I can't see from your photo, but it looks like there might be some timbers in the stucco on the second floor?

Ironwood Builders The horizontal water table below the second floor windows was intended originally as a color break point. A deep earth tone below that and a lighter body with darker timbers above would show this house as a half Tudor. Most were brick below the water table, but the paint color will emphasize the look.
