Transition from tile floor, step down to wood floor

We are replacing a tile floor in the kitchen that is one step above a wood floor in the living room, how do we finish off the edge, wood bullnosing, tile schluter?

Not sure what you mean by one step above?

are you talking an actual step? or that half inch tripping trap? tile would probably look nicer; wood might hold up better.

I like to bullnose and polish the edge of the tile but you run the risk of it possibly chipping. Schleuter works but you'll see the face of it. Wood will work also. Obviously needs to be the same thickness as the tile. What kind of tile is it?

Use a baby threshold trim, or a schluter trim

Have a carpenter take a piece of material the floor is made of the height of the step + 1/2" (i.e. a piece 3/4"x7-1/2" for a 7" step) back cut out 1/2" the full 7" height, bevel the top on both sides, stain to match and install to cover tile edge and sit flush on wood floor.

I read that four times and still don't understand it.

Carve out 1/2" x 7" of a 3/4" x 7-1/2" board to basically end up with a piece 1/4" wide on the riser with a 3/4" x 1/2" top leg that will trim up the riser and cover the edge of the tile as a trim. Bevel the top edges so as not to have a tripping lip.
