Master Bath: Large Shower and No Bathtub?

March 6, 2013 in Design Dilemma
We have space limitations for our master bathroom. We never use a bathtub, so we have been toying with the idea of not putting in a bathtub and instead just having an extra large shower. This would give us an approx 9'x4' shower as opposed to a 4'x4' shower. We will have a bathtub in each of the other 2 bathrooms.

Is this a big issue with resale value or anything else?

Does anyone really need 3 bathtubs? I recall a houzz discussion thread recently with pretty much the same dilemma. I think everyone agreed that it makes more sense to renovate the house the way you want it. Most likely, if you sell, you'll end up with a potential buyer that is glad to have a huge shower without having to renovate themselves. Go with the big shower if that's what you prefer.

I'm with you on this. My wife is hesitant, so I was curious if anybody could give any real reason that this isn't a good idea.
