Need help for bathroom floor
March 6, 2013
I have Carpet in bathroom and want to put down tile. I am having a problem with shape and color. I am at a loss.

A few considerations:
If you have square tile on your tub, might be worth considering using the same proportions (only larger squares) - this will make the room seem longer (small tiles in the distance). Lay them in the same pattern as your tub (on a grid) and you will create more length but not necessarily width. White tile would emphasize your tub, but perhaps a warm beige could work as well - take it from very clinical and modern to a more traditional and cosy room

I love the look of tile but Oh is it cold on the feet! When we remodeled one bath to install a large shower I didn't replace the tile, just used a pretty vinyl and have never regretted it.

I agree with ASV--- use the same shape tiles as your bath but larger. I have 6"white tile around my tub/shower, and just used "sandcastle" travertine 18" tiles on the floor; the color variations in the natural stone pick up the white, beige, and browns from the rest of the room. Use 1/8" grout line with the larger floor tiles, in a dark shade to accent the tile ( I used mocha). I installed a floor warming mat under the tiles in front of the sink; it's easy and has an individual thermostat.
