where to put fireplace?

itsjenaMarch 10, 2013
We have a mid-century living room with a sloped ceiling. We'd like to add a wall mounted fireplace. We have 2 available walls in our living room, plus 1 wall of windows, and 1 half wall.
I seems like there are too many "centers of interest": the window wall (our favorite center of interest); the tv/unit; the coffee table; and the (new) fireplace.
Can you help with our living room layout?

I'd move the lighter sofa in front of the window, darker one on the wall and use the half/pony/knee wall for hanging the FP. Assuming it will be alcohol burning or ventless gas. Your space is looking nice but the huge coffee table is the elephant in the room. I hope you have plans to replace it with a good looking MCM piece.

Saw this and thought you could incorporate the wall look somehow- it goes with your entry wall well. I agree with decoenthusiaste. You will have to do some sort of window shade though so you do not get a glare on the TV. The art work will be gorgeous on the wall the TV is on now.

Thanks! Yes, we were planning on gas, or ventless. We had pictured something like the photos below. I hadn't even thought of the half-wall; we'll have to rethink this.

Do you think a ventless fireplace would look good on the half-wall? I can't quite picture it.

You could install a double sided gas wall unit at the knee wall, That would open the small entrance to the room and be a focal point when entering the home.
