Kitchen spruce up on a budget

I actually like all the white, but it just looks so plain! Should I add small glass door cabinets above the existing ones or just add crown molding to the top? I know for sure we're adding crown molding to the ceilings, scraping this popcorn ceiling and buying new chairs for our breakfast table. We also need curtains for both windows. I just don't know what print to go with.

This is our dining room so far. We're not afraid of color either! Lol.

We're also planning on changing the lighting and updating the stove, but since we just moved in updating the appliances isn't at the top of our priority list when there are appliances that don't exist elsewhere. Lol.

Are these two rooms next to each other? Update the lighting. I would get rid of that florescent for sure. The light over the table is too high. Maybe something a little less model home looking. Something that goes with your cool wall clock. Next you need to decide the colors you like and the overall look you want. I think turning the table will give you more space to walk around it. I took a cue from the blue on the table. It is a bright clean look. English Cottage Kitchen Mudhut Medallion Window Panel, Blue/ Brown

kklinton Yes, you walk through the small butler's pantry to get to the dining room (not the only entrance). You can't see one from the other though so I don't necessarily have to coordinate the colors although I wish I could find some curtains that had both the color purple and blue that would go with our little scroll work that we have on the sconces and the clock. I definitely want to update the lighting as well! I feel like they look like boobs. Lol. I love the light fixture you suggested though! About the breakfast table we actually wanted to turn it lengthwise and have a tufted bench against the wall. Do you think that we'd have to replace the fluorescent light with recessed lighting?

It all depends on the ceilings and the wiring. I have seen some very attractive track lighting which is less labor intensive.

Ooh right! That may be nice since we have a black iron theme going on around the house. Thanks!
