Trash compactor. I've never seen a 12" wine storage.

Don't put wine shelves next to your dishwasher - the drying element in the dishwasher is likely to heat up and affect the quality of your wine...

what about a bookshelf? You could put cookbooks, etc there. It is always great to have storage for things you need in the kitchen! I have one in my kitchen on the side of my dishwasher and I use it all the time!

open shelves with baskets for root veggies, or just about anything you like too keep handy and neatly hidden

If you have trays and wooden cutting boards that space would be perfect for them. I know mine are always flopping about the place with no real home. Good comment on the wine not doing well adjacent to the dishwasher /heat. I like the baskets very much and shelves are a great idea too.

HI -- Put in a wine or beverage fridge . More useful than anything else . Or for cheaper you could put a pull out garbage or recycle bin. Just don't put in a garbage /trash compacter .. the most useless and out dated appliance today .

You need a carpenter or good cabinet maker, but put in a utensil drawer on top and a double pullout trash center on the bottom. If you already have a trash center then have drawers (3) in the total space. Or, if you have one of those heavy stand mixers add the lift shelf in that space.
Open shelves in that location will get pretty dirty quickly. Opt for something closed.

I love the idea of the wine rack. It would look great in that space.
