Cork flooring
March 13, 2013 in Design Dilemma
Hi everyone,
Were looking at buying a house that has some cork flooring throughout the foyer and kitchen. Unfortunately it is a orange colour that we are not to fond of. I believe it is a click down tile floor much like the process used in laminate flooring. We would need to refinish the floors to a dark "walnut" finish. My questions are:
1. Is refinishing cork floors possible? (I have heard yes and no)
2.Does anyone have any tips for refinishing cork?
3.What are the rough costs of refinishing cork? similar to hardwood?

Thank you all in advance!

Did you make an offer on the house? I found an article that may help you make your decision on cork flooring. One point I noted that may interest you is that the floors do HAVE to be refinished - perhaps the color can be adjusted with that process. Sounds like once every few years is suggested for the refinishing. I'd speak with a flooring specialist in your area for specific costs.
