What would you guys do with this fireplace? Remove the wood stove and replace with just regular fireplace?

Yes, Laura, I would replace it. It looks small and out of sync with the contemporary looking stone facade.

What do you suggest as a replacement?

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. Life happens...
The first photo shows a newly popular style of rocks in a fireplace. I think this is a probably a gas fireplace. The photo is from Houzz. I am sorry it does not enlarge on this post.
The second fireplace is actually a glass radiator. Look on the Internet for "radiators as art."

Can you take that out or do you know what is behind there? Your fireplace is nice and that little black piece doesn't fit at all - literally and design wise both.

I woulda love a gas fireplace but I'm not sure my budget will allow it... - I'm not sure what is behind it, attempted to remove it and it is SO heavy. Hopefully will get a group of guys to rip the ugly thing out soon!! Thanks everyone!

You have a wood stove insert into a Heatilator style steel wood fired fireplace. The vents in the stone are a dead giveaway. Taking out the stove is going to be heavy, but fairly easily accomplished.

Thank you ironwood builders! So once removed it will be a functioning "regular" fireplace?
