What would be best for my downsloping front yard~~

I have a little ranch house that is on a downsloping yard. There used to be railroad tie backs on the left side of the driveway but they were decayed and I haven't put anything else in its place. I was thinking about a little brick or stone wall but I'm not sure.

Can you guys give suggestions to give my yard a better look?

Here is a picture of a garden I designed that has a downslope to the house. We created a path and steps leading from the street to the front door and made a level area close to the house by cutting into the hill and building a retaining wall.

Thanks for answering. I just used some pics from google but I have taken better ones now that I will attach later today. That garden is beautiful but I am not sure I want something that extensive.

eagledzines: Are you saying in a new driveway? Or put in the stone around the yard surrounding the driveway?

I am not a landscaper, but it looks like the driveway is slanted down on the right.

Its slanted down both ways. My house sits at the bottom of the downslope. Here are a few more pictures. I guess these should give a better idea of what i am dealing with~~ The dirt at the bottom is where the yard need to be held back.
