How are the mirrors attached to the stacked stone

We used a masonry bit and drilled through the stone and installed anchors to hand the mirrors from. If these had been medicine cabinets, we would frame the cabinet in and install the stacked stone around that. Either application would have this same look.

We are starting from drywall and doing wall like this and I am wanting to attach two floating oval mirrors with brackets on outside of each mirror. Should we put mounting plates on prior to stacking the stone or can we just mount onto the stone after it is installed?

Depending on the brackets and if you can place them accurately, install them before installing the stacked stone. You will then just need to cut around the brackets when you put the sheets of stone up. It is more difficult to notch the stacked stone if you wait to install the brackets until after the stone is installed.
