How do I fill the space on each side of my vanity top?

I want to replace my vanity top, but the space is 55" wide and I can only find 49" W pre-made tops. How do I fill in the extra 3" on each side?

Do I understand correctly that you are keeping the vanity but replacing the top? If that's the case and the vanity is 55" wide, you will need to have a top custom made.

If, on the other hand, you have found a vanity and top that totals 49" in width, you center the vanity and top on the 55" wide space, providing that the vanity is finished on sides. You do nothing with the leftover space at the sides.

I agree with Carolyn, I think you have to probably get a custom top made. But I would look at left over pieces at a stone yard. You can possibly find a great scrap piece of granite for a really good deal. But maybe even taking a picture of the space to help us get a visual would help too.

Yes, it is really not too expensive to get a stone top made in this size. There is no realistic way to fill in strips that saves money or results in a good look, let alone both.
