Need help with updating my house with paint colors and landscaping

I have a house with a very unusual design and need lots of help to transform it from the neighborhood eyesore. We are getting ready to have the bricks and trim painted as well as changing the landscape. Any ideas are much appreciated. I live in Louisiana . Thanks

Yes, those are unusual lines and unusual windows. Play up that geometry for a grand appearance rather than trying to fight what you have or ignore these features. I'll find some photos for you to illustrate some ideas.

I would not paint the brick. Highlight the entry by covering the brick accent with stone or stucco. Get much larger lights. The windows are unique but not in a good way I would change those.

what's the rest of the neighborhood look like?

would a porch or (covered) stone patio work across the front? You could offset the windows with furniture or potted trees . topiaries

Can you paint the window trim? they stick out so much cause they're bright white against a monochrome house.

I like front doors that pop with color.

What "feel" are you going for? Formal, modern, casual, classic, etc.?

Keep us posted!

The neighborhood is a mix of new construction to 80 year old frame homes. The windows have just been completely re-framed and are not painted at all. That is why they are white. With no eaves on the house the front window frames had some rotten wood. We were having that all that fixed before painting the exterior.

With the predominant horizontal line of the house, and the strong geometric shaped windows consider doing a geometric front entry courtyard. It will also help make your home look more in scale with the large property and mature trees. See the attached images.

Unique house! I wouldn't paint the brick... instead paint the trim and door and add in some landscaping!

It looks better already, but maybe you should paint the front door a pink color to match bushes. I just painted my front door a creamy peach color and my sidding is called puddy. It looks great. I'm not sure what your house color is but a shocking door would look great. just my ideas.....

I love this house! Thank you 1000 times over for not getting rid of the uniqueness of it. How refreshing for it to look different. I think that you do need to pretty large size lights on either side of the door. I think you need something that is long and thin feeling. Why don't you try these from Lantern & Scroll (find them on here or Facebook or www.lanternandscroll.com). They are a great company to work with, reasonably priced, and USA made.

Or this one would feel a bit more modern.

Pretty much finished. Not too bad for spending about $8000

It really looks nicer in the darker color. But where did $8000 go?

I'd like to see a pair of very large shrubs/small trees at each end of the house. like bookends. A plant that has great architecture and a tight form. Perhaps a hornbeam. Or shutters on those two skinny windows - something with clean, classic lines, no louvers.

Great job! Love how the house meshes with the trees behind it. Does the sidewalk still go to the front as original? One pic made it look like you took it out, but I see it in the next to last photo. I'm going darker with my color too...feels more intimate to me. Hope you live it. And thanks for sharing!

$1000 reframe rotten windows and repair brick, $6300 painter, $400 lights, $200 plants. Sidewalk still goes to street. I would like to change it from concrete to brick. This pic is same angle as first.
