    That looks like an Ocotillo (Fouquieria splendens) plant. They are especially beautiful when they flower in Spring.

    Yes, that is an Ocotillo, native to the southwest and especially the low desert of Arizona where I took this picture. Ocotillo are also used as a dried branch arrangements for large pots. The canes are also used in rustic fences, but you need an awful lot of them to create and sort of distance.

    and hummingbirds and verdin birds love our ocotillo red blooms :)
