Can I add a 2story garage to my split?
How do I add a garage to my split without over powering the house? I need a room over the garage too so it needs to be two stories. Driveway area sits a little lower than house. Do I create a breezeway then bump back, turn, move up or a garage?
below: The green house is what I am going to do w the exterior and then compliment a garage to it. My house is the ugly yellow one. Any pros out there...I'd love some advice!

Ironwood Builders If you have the room, turn the garage to avoid the "dog house" effect of the large doors facing the street or front facade. After that? I recommend developing a master plan with a team of architect and general contractor...with a structural engineer on board if necessary in your area. You can locate local talent by hitting the "find local pros" tab on the black header here on Houzz. Browse through profiles and set up interviews...these people will know your local issues and be able to provide much more relevant information than the remote designers online.

Dytecture Having a breezeway would make the renovation less 'messy' since only a small portion would be affecting the existing house.

trelbob Your house looks a lot like ours. We too added on. The best picture I have right now is on a Christmas ornament. Hope you get the idea. Our " breezeway" is actually a two level addition. Lower level has a fireplace and upper level is library.the back side is 24 feet of windows looking into the woods.
