Simpson exterior french doors
March 20, 2013 in Design Dilemma
Hi Houzzers....need anyone with any knowledge to weigh in on this problem please. We purchased 8 Simpson french doors for our new house at the Jersey Shore. Tired of sliders, we opted for these beautiful french doors that opened out. Still in the building process, now 4 of the doors have broken off their hinges due to high wind as various workmen needed access outside. These doors were expensive, about $1800 per. Who is responsible for this poor workmanship? I'm not living in the house yet, we're still in the drywall stage. Am I expected to pay to replace these doors? Does the builder or their subs who opened the doors pay for their replacement? Or is Simpson responsible for selling me an inferior product? Had I known these doors would burst apart when opened on a windy day, I would have opted for sliders. Seems like someone dropped the ball. I'm meeting with the Simpson rep, Simpson distributor, and the installer Friday. Any suggestions are welcomed. Thanks so much
