Cabinet latches
March 23, 2013 in Design Dilemma
I LOVE the look of the turn style cabinet latches used on inset cabinets, but we are getting FULL overlay cabinets and I was wondering if you can use the cabinet latches on them as well? Are there specific latches that I should be using? Thanks!

The thumb latch cabinet catches were designed when all cabinets were full inset. They don't work with full overlay. There are no surface mount options, though some variation of a mortised latch might work, sort of like a cam lock. I'm not immediately familiar with a knobbed cam lock. Don't know if a good looking one exists. With self closing hinges and soft close options euro-style full overlay doors don't need either type of catch.
