Does anyone know how I could match this wall texture in my 1960's home. It's almost a wood grain texture.

i saw it first on my phone but now on the computer it looks like they used a stencil to leave the impression

Yes we're trying to replicate it, we knocked down a wall and now had to replace some drywall and need it matched.

Yes! My boyfriends grandpa has been a carpenter for years and said they used to use mud with a a a bunch of news papers to make the texture....

Nowadays, the equivalent would probably be patching compound. You might try making some test boards using different brushstroke techniques and see if you can replicate. Alternatively,your paint store may have some tools that could create a wood grain - though not necessarily that wood grain. You can get the compund at any hardware store.
