Is the tile a natural stone?

I think that it is imperative to the design of the floor to match the shine of the finished hardwood.

How do you get that shine out of the tile?

You should ask the interior designers: Carolyn Tierney, ASID, CSBA and Diane Susoev, Allied ASID of ECOterior Solutions. They picked out that tile and would know the details about the finish.

@House Flipper - most stone tile can be purchased in either a polished or honed finish. The tile in the floor above looks more like honed to me, as it has a subtle sheen.

Honed is the answer, honed finish. That will take the shine off the stone tiles and allow it to match the wood look tiles.
