We've got a vinyl rug that looks like slate stone. The flooring business we bought it from had it in a wood look on their showroom floor. We have two dachies. It's been fantastic. Supposedly you can spill grape juice on it and it won't stain. We have a haan steam mop we use on it.

I'm really leaning towards a tile that resembles a hardwood floor. Maybe something with a lot of detail so it really resembles wood? I just really want to be sure I pick the right tile this time.

I can highly recommend the tiles that resemble a hardwood floor - patterns have gotten so sophisticated it is only when you touch or walk on them that you realize it isn't wood. However, I don't have drooling dogs ... just a cat that drools with happiness when she is purring on my legs!

Karndean vinyl plank floors. Real wood look and it is almost indestructible.

I can attest to the above comment. My parents have Karndean almost everywhere in their house, which was laid about 10-15 years ago if I remember correctly. They have three dogs who have all shat, peed and vomited on that floor when they were going through their angelic puppyhoods! The floor has never been reseated or whatever it is that they recommend. It looks perfect, as though it's brand new. My cousin has it in her house and it looks amazing... Even after her house was FLOODED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
