What style is this dining room table?

Sometimes I can't tell the difference between the design styles. Traditional, contemporary, modern?? How do you distinguish the difference?

That is a contemporary design. Mixing curves from the traditional and simplicity of modern with a Asian look to the back of the chairs. Making it a all new look equals Contemporary Or sometimes call transitional. " A Style of the times"

I did not really see the Asian look until you said it. I'm planning to replace my kitchen cabinets but I like a traditional door style over contemporary. Would traditional work with this table?

Yes, That's why they call it Transitional. It's best to go with a timeless cabinet too. Like Traditional. Be sure your wood tones blend nice though. No Cherry wood. It's a nice set and unique. I love it. It looks inviting and comfortable.
