our pond disaster

We built our pond over 20 years ago and it spans a large area from the top lawn down. Over the years our beautiful silver birches have created a leak in the concrete lining. After hours and hours of hard work by my husband and his friend the job was done, but alas when they filled it they realised that they may have cut it a bit short on the edges as when water comes in the rubber lining of course also gives. Any ideas as to how to fix because my distraught hubby wants to fill it in! Josie

We have been through lots of woes with our Koi pond as well (fortunately ours is small) and my husband would love to call in the dump trucks and fill it in. One of the issues we had when it was originally installed was that the liner was cut too small and water would get in behind it and actually float the liner and the rock placed on top of it. We fussed around with it for a couple of years and then finally bit the bullet and hired another company to come in and replace the whole thing. Fixed the problems, but the cost was more than we originally paid for the pond. That was 10 years ago and it still works well - except the normal maintenance stuff like getting the river birch roots out of the waterfall and keeping it clean.
