Beach House Kitchen SOS
March 26, 2013 in Design Dilemma
Hello! This is our kitchen in our new beach house in California. I plan on painting the cupboards white, replacing the counter in quartz in a white as well, and replace the backsplash with the glass tiles (photo). The kitchen is the first thing you see when you enter the open concept living space of the house. I would love to have the facing cabinets in glass. Does anyone know if its crazy expensive to have glass put in the existing cabs, or would it be less to replace the door fronts? I was also thinking of just removing some of the doors all together and have some open shelving. I have some fantastic cobalt blue glassware I would like to display to cut the white. I also plan on removing the cupboards on the front left side to open up the sight line. I will be extending the counter and adding bar stools. Do you think pendant lights would look good there? I want to remove that horrible fluorescent light box in the middle of the ceiling as well. Any suggestion on lighting in there?? Thanks so much!
