Wooden countertops

I have butcher block counters from Ikea that I love, and want to keep using in our new kitchen - but I'm concerned about using an under-mount sink with the wooden counters. Have you encountered any problems and/or have any advice on this? Thanks - LOVELY kitchens, by the way. Great storage & functionality without losing the coziness.

    Thank you! I'm glad you like them. In all honesty.... wood countertops are harder to maintain. You have to keep it very dry and make sure you don't leave wet patches in the drainer grooves or around the edge of the sink. I have a wood countertop and it's in excellent condition but I do seem to be constantly drying it! I use a toothbrush to clean the join of the sink and the countertop!! (-;
    You need to make sure that the countertop has some sort of oil on it too to protect it from water and heat - We use a hard wax oil called "Polyx".
    Although the oil helps with the heat - I still wouldn't put a hot pan on the wood surface.
