I like china cabinets dark on the inside and light on the outside. But it's all a matter of taste. Do you want light furniture in your huse or some dark too? And keep in mind it's harder to strip painted wood then to paint stained wood.

Can you post a photo of it? I'm wondering whether it is the same color oak as the trim through the rest of your house? Are there other built ins that it matches? Is this an older house or a newer one?

I'm really trying to get rid of all the honey oak. We've painted out our trim white. We also have beams on the ceiling that are staying honey oak for now. Our house is older. Built in the 60s and renovated in the 80s.

I was thinking of having a light color on the inside of the cabinets. I'm torn between dark wood or what color to paint. I'm not a big matchy matchy fan. I do love dark wood. The top of my diningroom table is dark.

If your trim has already been painted white, and if the china cabinet is older but not part of the historic details of the house, then I think painting it white to go with the trim would look nice. But photos would still be helpful, as it might be in a style (mid-century modern. for example) that would look better stained.
