Awkward space...for television? display?

We are thinking about taking the mirrors down and putting the TV in this space, instead of putting it over the fireplace on the opposite wall. There aren't any doors to this area to close it off. We are at a loss with how to best use it! There isn't a sink for a wet bar. HELP!

First of all do you really need to close off this room?
To make lemonade out of lemons - if you put the TV unit on this space and have the fireplace on the other can you fit two long sofas facing each other in the middle? This allows you the best of both worlds. These rooms give you an idea. Give us more info and we can help you further.
It is hard to see from your picture the true dimensions (and I see you have a return on one corner
