How do I select coordinating ceiling lights without being too matchy, matchy...

I have selected a ceiling light fixture for the family room from ballard designs and 3 pendant lights from pottery barn... I need a third fixture for the kitchen nook. I'm afraid to introduce a third type of light fixture. Should I install a smaller version of the family room fixture or something different? I'll post links to the fixtures... The ballard designs orb chandelier (largest size) is going in the family room, the pottery barn rustic pendants (small size) are going over the kitchen island. Oh... plus I need a formal dining room fixture but it's separate from the kitchen, nook and family room. Thanks!!

we have three different light fixtures in our kitchen. our kitchen is like two L's with an island in the middle.

i say go for it. for coordination without matchy-matchy keep most elements of the light the same: same finish on hardware, same finish on glass (clear, frosted, etc.) but explore different styles and shapes.

here are ours: http://www.rejuvenation.com/catalog/products/hood/configurations/pn-12clear-globe (over island) http://www.build.com/cal-lighting-pn-1043-contemporary-modern-1-light-down-lighting-canopy-mount-pendant-with-chrome-shade/p1675061 (two over peninsula)
then a light that looks a lot like your pottery barn light is over the apron sink (which is adjacent to the globe light)

i would suggest something like this for your nook: http://www.lowes.com/pd_411829-44732-1053-10_4294857054__?productId=3942983&Ns=p_product_avg_rating|1

ours is a new build and the 'pottery barn' looking light goes on the far right above the apron sink and hasnt been put up yet.

Ooooo that looks great!! What do you think about this burlap drum style light... The table in the nook is very rustic, dark espresso with distressed look... http://m.ballarddesigns.com/mt/www.ballarddesigns.com/natural-woven-3-light-pendant/lighting/pendant-lights/210659

That's a good find oh_hey! Wonder if they have a similar one with a longer chain or mount. The style is right on! I think the room will need fabric to soften the space like a burlap or linen. Thanks for your input!

not sure how much light you need, but i found that most drum lights are 'ambient' one bulb-ers. above is a 5-bulb light, plus you can pick ffrom tons of shade colours! PLUS its not $600+ like a lot of the other drum lights i was seeing!
