What paint color do I choose?

I have off white sofas, ebony parquet flooring, and an off white carpet in my living room. What color should I repaint the living room walls?

Is absolute white make the room look too spartan or will any other white paint make the sofas and carpet look dirty?

Hoping to transform the room (and the rest of the house) to look modern but casual and comfortable with eclectic accents.

The living room has north facing windows and south facing windows so it gets a lot of lovely natural light.

Your advice would be much appreciated!

As you have lots of daylight - be brave and have a dark grey ! As long as your skirting and windows and ceiling are brilliant white it will look awesome !!

Wow that's amazing! Thank you! Is it possible to see some white paint options?

Here's a photo of the room taken from the opposite side.

Red curtains and wall sconces will be removed.

The thing about white is that if you are based in the UK particularly(guess?), the light can translate as a colder grey. If you go for a white, add a tint of pink or yellow just to give it a warmer hue. Having said the above, I believe dark grey framed against your green lawn will always be wonderful. It sets off the brilliance of the green and leads the eye outwards (it is its own shadow). At night there is a wonderful warmth and the room feels cosy. All the elements in the room stand out - particularly the light colours so it is a win win situation

Spacialist: Would you consider taking a look at this dilemma? They need a good visualization of wall color and you do do the best ... http://www.houzz.com/discussions/384137#829072

Hi lessismoore,
Here are a few proposals that they may find interesting, I am not so sure how the entire room looks like but here are some ideas.

You need a neutral since you are leaning towards white, but you need a tonally interesting white - layering the tones. Look at http://www.sherwin-williams.com/homeowners/color/find-and-explore-colors/paint-colors-by-family/SW7035-aesthetic-white/ or pacer white http://www.sherwin-williams.com/homeowners/color/find-and-explore-colors/paint-colors-by-family/SW6098-pacer-white/

Then you can add layers of brights back in -
