Proper size of garage sconces

We just purchased a single story ranch style house, built in 1983. I want to put new lighting sconces on the sides of the standard sized two car garage. What size should the sconces be? I've read that bigger is better, but I don't want to overdo it either.

Do you feel like the current ones are undersized? Probably a good idea to measure the fixtures you have now, and go to a large lighting store & look around, to get a feel for standard sizes.

It looks as though the lights are mounted too high for the coach lamp style. When looking for lights, concentrate on styles that come out and down from the backplate. I second Astraea's advice, measure the fixtures you have now. When you see a fixture that you like, at least the dimensions will help in the decision.
