Hello,

Ive been trying to figure out a good color that will go with the red i have going on in my kitchen and my best buy wall.

I was thinking a Gold/Beige color for the side and back walls or a light greyish color.

Either of your choices would work. I would pull a color from your rug.

Why not paint is almost as temporary as the rug.

As its such a high area to paint - then it might be better off kept white ! Have all the colour interest brought in via the accessories and in the normal height part of the room then ?!

You should do a light grey on the side walls and behind the couch a goldish tan almost like the tan in the rug. A light blue going up the stairs.

Add some red pillows to the sofa and red lampshades with black as the other accent colour - will be quite masculine - but very up to date !

My advice is to add a warm neutral pale on the walls. The stark white is not doing anything for you - with the gray it is pretty cold. The right "off-white" will help make all the gray and red deliberate but feel immediately "done."
Like http://www.sherwin-williams.com/homeowners/color/find-and-explore-colors/paint-colors-by-family/SW7526-maison-blanche/ or http://www.sherwin-williams.com/homeowners/color/find-and-explore-colors/paint-colors-by-family/SW7531-canvas-tan/ They are both buff tones but the color in them will make the room feel 100x more pulled together.

Can I ask what the white thing is between the black speakers on the "best buy" wall? If it is an hvac grate, it should be painted out red like the wall color. Also, for that one elevation, the "white" baseboards are popping. Paint them out red also for this particular location so they don't visually "read" off that wall.

Why not "try" different paint colors with computer - don't know how myself. Maybe someone would give instructions?

thanlks for all the great ideas. and the HVAC intake isnt a metal grate. Its accually a custom wooden louvered panel. it looks great in person and i like the white trim around to bottom of the room.
