Help with rug and coffee table size and wall color(s)

DaleneApril 1, 2013
How do I determine the size an area rug and coffee table should be? We are re-painting the walls in the "great room" that will go with the kitchen/eating area. Kitchen cabinets, floor, and sofa are new. The wall color in the kitchen is pacer white from Sherman Williams. I'm a beige/brown type and don't like bright bold color. The table is being replaced.

Your fireplace appears to be in the corner. This makes rug placement difficult. The area rug should be about half way under each sofa. You may have to settle for a small area rug like this photo. I like the large coffee table shown, too. Is this the best placement for the furniture in your room? Don't buy an area rug until you are happy with the furniture arrangement.
