Suggestions about an entrance!
April 3, 2013 in Design Dilemma
This is my first topic here, so Hi to all! I'm renovating an old apartment and definately need some opinions from different people. I have this entrance and think to paint the walls in blue. The color of the doors will be white and I want to paint also in white the line that is between the floor and the walls. I want also to have some pictures or paintings maybe with sea motives or something else to make the entrance warm and welcoming. So what do you think about that and what type of blue (or other color) do you suggest?
P.S. What kind of lights would be suiable for it?

The ceilings are 2.75 meters! I'm the owner and I was also thinking about puting molding and paint the upper side in white.

Pick a dark blue or a light blue, because you don't want it too be a smurf hall (like in the first picture, excuse me if you love that, I'm only telling you my opinion). Maybe a teal, turquoise or a grey blue. You could make a white chair rail too (on the height ot the doorhandles). Or the bottom half of the hallway white and the top half AND ceiling deep nightblue (so 5' if it's 10' high). Depending on the rest of your house you can make it as bold as you want, a hallway is not something you sit in (and go nuts), but remember it is the first thing people see when they come in. What I like is a blue ceiling (did that in a 10' high all white bathroom, amazing!), maybe you could pick a darker blue for the ceiling and light blue with white woodwork for the walls? I was going to suggest 4-14" crown molding, come down 10" with an astragal molding , paint the moldings and the space between the 2 white. It looks like an expensive treatment.
