Matching cabinet pulls, faucets, hardware
April 4, 2013 in Design Dilemma
We are doing a total re-do on a Santa Monica beach cottage. In the main room we've lifted the ceilings, big dark, rustic beams, driftwood colored floors. We have used oil-rubbed bronze door/window hardware everywhere, and oil-rubbed bathroom fixtures. But the kitchen faucets, after much discussion, are going to be polished chrome because I kind of got talked into that . . . gleaming, right for cottage look, etc. My cabinet man says the pulls and cabinet handles should match the faucet. I'm kind of hating the idea of polished chrome pulls. Is it ok to go with kind of an old iron look for the pulls which is at least silver-ish, but more distressed? Kind of a combo between the ORB and the PC. The cabinets will be white along the wall with black, leathered granite, and the big island will be a black cabinet with calacatta marble.
